Illness—Death of Mrs. Francis A. Drexel 191
How ardently I beg the protection of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph
for my Emma's darling trio! Good-bye, sweet Trio, the soul of
your cherished Mother will shine upon your home, wherever it
may be.
Lovingly,
Aunt Louise
THE DREAM
With thy comeliness and thy beauty, set out,
proceed prosperously, and reign.
And as I dreamed, I saw a road,
Most glorious to behold.
For burning tapers lined the way,
All grown with moss of gold.
I turned to take this shining path
When some one, whispering, said:
"'Tis not for thee to walk this way,
This golden path to tread."
"For whom," I asked, "has been prepared
This bright and glorious road?"
The voice replied: "For one whose life
Is pleasing unto God.
For one, whose deeds of mercy sweet,
Will soon have their reward.
"Those burning tapers symbolize
The countless Masses said,
To help the holy suffering souls,
That through her, have such aid.
The golden moss, her good works show,
Sweet debts to Heaven, all paid."
"And when," I asked, "does God so will
That she shall enter there?"
The answer was: "In three years' time,
She'll tread that path so fair,
So beautiful, so bright!"
